Day 3- June 20, 2006
I woke up at 7am with a sunlit tent. Wanting to get the
most of the less intense morning light I hiked up to a meadow behind camp.
There were several subjects to photograph including: amazing mountainscapes,
rock formations atop distant peaks, what seemed to be dozens of plant
species and wildlife. One of the more noteable features of the landscape

green moss carpet. Before heading down to camp for breakfast I took a
morning panoramic of the Kongakut River valley. The Brooks Range peaks
in the distance were quite spectacular to see in person. Breakfast comprised
of Grape Nuts and dried cranberries. Immediately following breakfast we
all broke down camp, put our stuff in to our drybags, and loaded the rafts.
Before heading out we took a day hike into the mountains to a meadow overlooking
the landing strip just south of camp. On this hike I got a taste of what
I was in for with Art Wolfe... >>
