This weekend in San Francisco was one of the whackier events, Bring Your Own Big Wheel (BYOBW). The curviest street, Lombard Street, is shut down for 1 hour so daredevils can take their fate into their own hands by riding down on plastic wheeled tricycles. No rubber wheeled vehicles are allowed at any time. This year thousands were in attendance and hundreds took part. My only regret was not finding a Big Wheel in time for the event so I too could make the ride. In any event it was hilarious to witness so here are the highlights along with a link to a larger set of images:

[...] Bonus: The Blonde Redhead video for 23 is beautiful. Plus: Apple design isn’t always all that. I knew my powerbook adapter was dying. But yesterday the damned thing burst into flames. Thankfully I was in the room at the time. My bedding was singed and the room reeked of burning plastic. The funny thing, I bought a spare one for the office, a generic for half the price, and it is way more solid. Still, I’m going to take my scary firestarting one to the Apple store to see if they’ll do anything about it. Sheesh. And: Yesterday marked the 7th Annual Bring Your Own Big Wheel race down Lombard Street in SF. Some photos here. [...]

I spent 47 straight hours in a car to get to the race, but it was worth it! Great pictures! I’m the one in the blue shirt and bunny ears. :-)

[...] Today’s Bring Your Own Big Wheel event in San Francisco was in a different location than last years BYOBW on Lombard Street, but it was just as fun. The crowd is always a blast to photograph. Below are a few favorites and more of my photos from the event can be seen in this Flash slideshow BYOBW Photo Highlights. Enjoy! [...]
