An aerial view of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. The idea of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) was born at the lake in the foreground of this image by conservationists exploring and studying this area. The mountain ridge, extending east towards Canada, is part of the southern section of the Brooks Mountain range.
