by Jim M. Goldstein

One of the great things about photography is that there are often some great hidden background stories. Seldom are they ever heard though unless you’re a close friend of the photographer. I thought it might be fun to have others post their favorite photograph on their blog with the story of what challenges or funny moments went into capturing it.

If you have a photography-related site, take a minute to…

  1. - Access my Contact page
Note: Omit “http://” on any links provided until I fix my form. Oops :)
  2. - In the subject line type “Favorite Photo & Story”
  3. - In the message put the name of your site, web address, link to your “favorite photo and background story” and a one sentence description about your photo and story

The NEW deadline to take part will be THURSDAY MAY 24th at 11:59PM PST.
Saturday I’ll post a link to all submitted sites and stories.
DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR PHOTO/STORY LINK AS A COMMENT TO THIS ENTRY.
Having everyones photos and stories listed at once should make for a great weekend.

    Hey Jim,

New reader here, found you via Brian Auer’s Epic Edits.

Saw your twitter about how you’re thinking of how to spread the word on this contest. Here’s some suggestions:

    - Push the deadline back by at least a week
    - Get in touch with the writers of the big photoblogs (DPS, Photocritic, Thomas Hawk, etc)
    - Offer a prize for best photo/story
    - Create a Flickr group
    - Promote it in photography forums like dpreview

Hope that helps :) I’m working on my entry now.

  17. Photography blog projects: New challenges

    on June 11 2007

[...] There seem to be quite a few blog projects for photographers around lately. I just discovered Jim Goldstein’s project called “Favourite Photo and Background Story” asking people to do just that: Post their favorite photograph together with the story of how it came about and why they like it. Unfortunately, the project is closed now. The result, however, is well worth a visit: the shots and their stories how widely and excitingly different people’s attitude to life and photography are. Go and enjoy the result of Jims project in his post “21 Favorite Photos and the Stories behind them“. [...]
