Landscape, Nature And Travel Photography

San Francisco Fog

After a couple weeks of stellar weather where it has been clear, sunny and very warm here in San Francisco its back to typical San Francisco summer weather… namely foggy. The fog has never bothered me mostly because I consider it natural air conditioning. The San Francisco bay area has a variety of micro-climates so when it’s foggy in San Francisco, it’s sunny and warm a short distance away. Sun is never farther than 10 minutes away when foggy here in town. That being said locals are always amused when driving over the Golden Gate Bridge during the summer to see tourists out in shorts. As you can imagine being on the Golden Gate Bridge in foggy and windy conditions in shorts is far from ideal. No tourists in shorts are visible in the foggy Golden Gate Bridge photo below, but it will definitely give you an idea of how thick the fog can get in the summer time here in San Francisco.
