One of my favorite views of Coit Tower here in San Francisco. I rediscovered this shot after reviewing some older photos recently. Previously I posted an alternate version of this titled “Coit Tower Moonrise“. I’m not sure which I like better. What’s your take do you have any preference?

Hey Jim. Totally love this shot. This is indeed a great capture and the moon adds some intense mood in here. The big tower is the eyecatcher cause of light and contrasts.

Another great SF night shot Jim! It would make it a lot easier to compare the two images if you had them side by side. After many flipping back and forth between web pages, I thing this one is the better one. It’s feeling is more nature, I think because you were following the rule so thirds; you have the tower making the break between the center and the right third. In the other version, the tower being smack in the center of the picture makes for a bad lead into the photo. In this one, my eye naturally enters on the left and moves across to the right where the tower and moon are.

    Keep up the great work!

    Jim,

Definitely like this one. The framing and foreground make it for me. The houses in the foreground lend a nice foundation for me.

Question - what lense did you use and what was the exposure?

Thanks for the great feedback. Its great to get the perspective of others. Being to close to an image for too long sometimes clouds your view.

Tony I’ll look up the exposure information later tonight. I don’t recall it off hand.
