Unfortunately I can only daydream about this at the moment, but just in case you’ve got deeper pockets than I 200 silver-gelatin Ansel Adams prints are going to be up for auction at Christie’s in New York in April. Granted most are prints from later in his career and won’t command top dollar, but there are a few that could. Ah to dream…

You can go over to http://www.anseladams.com and order prints at any time. For $225 you can get a hand-made print from the original negative. The Yosemite choices are pretty nice. Of course, signed originals are $3,000 - $50,000, and the selection is more limited….

Prints from long ago in this auction will be a real find for someone. A print from Ansel himself is far more of a prize than another printer making an image from one of his negatives. None the less this type of discussion delves into getting an image or getting an artist print. Either way both options are out of my budget at the moment. I’m eager to hear how the auction goes/went.
