I decided to pull my camera bag from the back of my car today to put together a short video detailing what I carry in it. From the look of this video you’d think I’m a pack mule when it comes to what I carry in my camera bag. In actuality this is what I have with me when I head out, but not necessarily exactly what I’ll hike with. Granted there are times I’ll hike with all of this, but in many instances I’ll pare down what I carry based on what I’m photographing. As you’d imagine 90 seconds isn’t a lot of time so there are a couple things I missed mentioning including a spare battery for my cable release, another circular polarizer and a lens cloth. Also for the record since I seemed to have misspoke, my back up camera body is a Canon 1D Mark II.

A little on the video… it was recorded with a Nokia N95 cell phone on loan with surprisingly great image quality. The reason for the 90 second limit is I wanted to try out Flickr’s new support for video.

    Great idea!

I have to ask you this though: you have two pocket wizards, but I didn’t see any speedlite. Why carry them around?

That’s an impressive amount of gear you carry around. I also like the bag … but no room for a chocolate bar or two :)

@Raoul I have a speedlite that I use from time to time, but the preshutter release cables are used more… to remotely trigger the camera.

@Anthea There is ALWAYS room for chocolate unless I’m in bear country.

Great quality from the phone Jim. I think your 1DSMKIII weighs more than all my gear combined lol. Not that I have much gear anyway.

I need to learn that code you used on your blog. I’ve had my time lapse video on draft mode on my blog until I figure out html compatible w/ both IE and Firefox.

@RichardWong I’m not sure how Blogger works, but WordPress has its own quirks. Hopefully you figure it out. It’d be great to see your time lapse work on your blog.
