Pike Place Market – Seattle, Washington

My latest travels this past week took me to Seattle where I had a chance to photograph some of the more iconic locations around town including Pike Place Market, arguably one of the two most recognizable Seattle landmarks. One of the many highlights during my brief trip was having the chance to meet several talented photographers at the opening night of the International Conservation Photography Awards (ICP Awards) gallery.  I also had the pleasure of crossing paths with local photographer Chase Jarvis who was incredibly hospitable going out of his way to recommend great restaurants for my wife and I to try. All-in-all it was a very fun trip. With a little luck I’ll be swinging by Seattle again sometime soon.

  • Jim, very nice shot of this popular place. Living in the Seattle area, it's a very interesting and different take on it. Looking at yours, it reminded me a bit of one I attempted a while ago. I'm posting a link below :)

  • Pike Place is my favorite place in Seattle by far. Great composition of this landmark.
  • Jim: Having some reason to go there every few months, Seattle has become one of my favorite photographic subjects in the past few years. Although iconic, there really is a lot of interesting stuff to shoot at Pike Place - I like to take a UWA and wander around shooting "street" (believe it or not) when I'm there.

    Take care,

Love the unique angle on the Pike Place Market sign. As Jan has noted in a previous comment, it seems that everyone who has taken a photo in Seattle has taken a photo of this sign, but it's nice to see that you found a new composition that works well.

Living in Seattle I see many photos of this over used subject (being guilty of this myself). But this is a refreshingly different, yet very interesting and nice framing with the street sign that is also contextually helpful for non-locals. Very nice!
