Landscape, Nature And Travel Photography

Origin

While mathematics can explain our natural world with complex formulas, the basic principles of geometry can shine through from time to time. Of all my mathematical studies I found geometry the most interesting as it always had an artistic aspect to it that caught my eye. Of course later I found out how literal that interpretation would be as I learned about the Golden Ratio. While hiking through the Marin Headlands I found the fog filtered sun a fascinating subject and a reminder of my mathematical past…. or rather Origin.

  • Stunning composition Jim. Its a top draw.
  • Wow, I was not expecting to start my day thinking about mathematic equations. But I am now officially fascinated.
  • Golden Ratio is a very intriguing argument, with implcation in many, many different fields. The mentioned article on wikipedia is really well done and explain the GR in deep. Mybe it's even too deeper for many.

I remember during my photography class, the the teacher told us to cut the story short and consider the value where to base the GR proprtions using the 5/8 fraction (which result in 1,6, so quite similar to the real GR value), and simplifying a lot all the computations.
