Mobius Arch & Stars I
The Alabama Hills in California is one of the cooler locations to explore and Mobius Arch is the formation to photograph when you’re in the area. Its abstract form and relatively large arch size for this area is a fascinating sight to see let alone photograph. This photo of Mobius Arch with an arm of the Milky Way stretching high into the sky has become a personal favorite of mine. There’s something magical about seeing the vastness of space in relation to an earthly, albeit alien looking, landscape.

I can see why it's a favorite! I love doing night shots and this is definitely one to get me inspired. Nicely done!

Now that's something nice. You using a really fast lens to get that sky (with no apparent star trails!), or are you using a tracking mount somehow to free the sky? Great shot, either way!

Very nice. How is the arch being lit?
BTW, “it's” should be “its”.

Fixed the typo. Thanks. The lighting is coming from flashlight I was using to paint the arch.

Thanks Ryan! Lens was rated at 2.8 and no tracking was needed. The exposure was set in such a way that the distant stars showed minimal to no motion blur. Thanks for the comment.

This definitely has an “otherworldly” appeal to it Jim. Another nice one from the series.
