Taken back in the day when I was shooting slide film. This was one of the more memorable sunsets I’ve photographed. The rolling hills and golden hue of the Marin Headlands always provide a dramatic view. [tags]Marin, headlands, sunset, photo, California, Golden State, hills[/tags]
A personal favorite of mine from my March trip to Yosemite. Although not the most mysterious abstract it is one in my eye none-the-less. As a viewer I might be prone to look over this rushing through my day, but as a photographer what attracted me to this was the complexity of shapes, textures and shadows. Photographically the challenge was to provide a sense of order to the busy scene with careful composition. Yosem
“Chiaroscuro” in regard to photography, as with painting and cinematography, describes “extreme low-key lighting to create distinct areas of light and darkness” (to quote Wikipedia). “The term early broadened in meaning to cover all strong contrasts in illumination between light and dark areas in art.” (Wikipedia) Note: This image will animate 3 times. I’ve taken my fair share of photos of Yosemite valley, but this is the first I’ve attempted taking in Infrared (IR). This was taken just before sunset as the last of a snow storm was clearing through the valley. This weekend in San Francisco was one of the whackier events, Bring Your Own Big Wheel (BYOBW). The curviest street, Lombard Street, is shut down for 1 hour so daredevils can take their fate into their own hands by riding down on plastic wheeled tricycles. No rubber wheeled vehicles are allowed at any time. This year thousands were in attendance and hundreds took part. My only regret was not finding a Big Wheel in ti
